The end of the press in 2014?

I found on internet a small animated film very interressant, created by the "museum of the history of the media" (invented) which is placed in the future in 2014. Look at it .

It explains the evolution of media from 1984 up until 2014.

That single source is called EPIC : The " Evolving Personalized Information Construct " by Robin Sloan and Matt Thompson.

Answers on students blogs

At the end of each class, we have many interesting answers on students blogs. All these answers enrich your own knowledge and confront you with other ideas. That enables you to reflect again.

See the blogs of others students allowed also to help you and to play the emulation. Thats' more funny and more creative that to keep the copy for oneself.

Applications of e-communications skills

In more and more professions, the applications of e-communications skills are increasingly important. I think of three jobs in particular :
- teaching : we tested e-learning also we saw the various manners of learning and of working. In my actual job, I gave formation of responsables sites of my company. So if I use e-learning, we would earn time and money and perhaps more persons could follow the formation.

- journalism or communication sites : I think that with internet, the job changes because the journalists
or communicants enter in competition with the information deposited by the Net surfers. Also, they start to use the blogs to have another manner of being expressed and of being addressed to people. For example, the newpapers sites leave also the place with people to be expressed through the forums, the blogs and the comments on the articles which they can leave. I think that soon inside a company, the leaders will be obliged to leave more the place with the word of their employees. It's a good manner to avoid the crises and to make share projects.

- project manager : you can keep information for you; you must share them through for example a blog.

Interactivity class

In a class online, we have a different type of interactivity than in a typical classroom environment. It's more interactive because you write directly on line on our blog also our remarks are immediatly visible with the eyes of all.
But I think that is more an individual interactivity between a student and the teacher than a really interactivity inside the class. Because the teacher speaks and just talks with a student at the same time, also the others students can't hear the conversation.
So if we want more interactivity, we must give the possibility of others students to hear the conversation and participate. I know that it will be more difficult but we can give rules : speak only for help your comrade, if only you are really not agree with him ans at the end of conversation if you have additionnal things with saying.
And we should make the same thing at home to avoid to loose time by transports and see
what is really the e-learning.

Podcasting

I never had resistance of podcastings. I think that's an another manner to do radio or video. I think that's a progress because now everybody could use podcasting to express, diffuse its ideas, its music. It is not solely any more reserved for those which have the means of diffusion.

But that not means that is really easy to do a podcast. You must control the techniques of presentation of radio, the rhythm, impose your style and make you recognize if you want that people listen to you. You must know to put music and to integrate into the words. The first time you made a podcast, you found it very difficult because you don't control the technic and technology.

M-shopping

Mobile-shopping changes totally the manner of thinking and of living. With Internet, you already can do shopping without go to the shops, now with M-shopping you could do shopping where you want and when you want. You needn't wait to be at home in front of your computer to do it.

M-shopping outsource totally to the customer and cannibalize markets. Stores
and supermarkets are transformed into warehouses of storage who perhaps only robots put your purchases in bags and you bring them at home. So this possibility pushes the principle of killer app design even further "destroy your value chain". But for customers, that avoids to them wasting time in transport, making the tail, carrying the bags and being irritated by crowd in markets.

Finding information on Internet

For find information of news words or concepts, I principally use Wikipedia because this encyclopaedia is really very complete and makes few links about sites who talk about this subject. So after, I go on this sites and find another information.

Otherwise I use the search engine of Google to find information : I read the titles of links and I eliminate those which do not appear interesting to me. Sometimes it's long to have the information which really interests to me because there are much and much links.

So when I find very goods sites of different subjects, I keep names and links on my favorites pages.

E-learning

" What is you think about the process of e-learning, learning by internet connection? What would be your best creative ideas for a process like ours? What software would you use? "

I think it's a good idea to work by e-learning. To use the blogs oblige you to really working : you must write on english so you can only improve. See the blogs of others students allowed also to help you and to play the emulation. Thats' more funny and more creative that to keep the copy for oneself. I find that it make it possible to share the kownledge.

I'm sure that we can go further in the interaction. I think that to improve our homework on the blogs, the teacher should poster of the comments on our various entries to show us what must be corrected or improved. So all students could see them and when we made corrections, they would benefit thus at the same time from the councils (why not do new paragraphs with corrections or to keep text but by writing goods senses in an another color?)

Today, we passed a exam on line. We must answer at many questions and speak after by MSN.
I think that to go until the end of this practice, you should also do it at home. E-learning as we practised in class is right a first attempt to try out this method at th school.

Why not give more course while being connected to Internet? For the students and the teacher, you avoid displacements, the wastes of time and thus a part of tiredness. It would be also a good solution for people who work and who have a few hours of formation per week. In English, for example. To mix traditional teaching and e-learning is a good combination.

Key concepts exercise

Level one

  • Click and mortar company : that means a company who exists on web and reality. Many examples possibles : Fnac, Promod
  • Pure dotcom company : you can also say "brick and mortar company " that means a virtual company on web. Example Easyjet
  • Monetize an internet model. You can give money with your personnal site. For example on a blog, you can have publicity also the company transfers you money to agree to put some : Adsense on Blogger
Level two

  • Intellectual property. That means that intellectual property (rules who protect the authors or creators) continues to exist on the web. You can copy or download text or music if the site don't give the authorization . And if you take a text or an citation, you must quote the person's name. The site Yahoo music respects the royalties, it made link with SACEM (company of authors, type-setters and editors of music)."I think it's important to respect the job of authors ; now authors, who want distributate freely theirs works, must be able to do it as they want. But I also think that CD or DVD are too expensive so I understand why persons copy or download music or films. And especially I find lamentable that also little money on totality is allocated to the artists."
  • DRM, or digital rights management. The management of the numerical rights consists in allowing the restriction of the diffusion by copy of digital components. The royalties are thus protected . The goal of DRM is to be able to parameterize and control, by a technical measurement of protection, contents. You can choose the detail of the diffusion, teh number of copies or the period of validity. Also with pay-on-demand TV, you can avoid illegal downloadings. The service isn't expensive and pratical. For example, on Canalplay (the offer's Free), you can look about a film for 1,99 euros.

Level three

  • TIVO (or TiVo) is a numerical video recorder on hard disk, which makes it possible to record the programs televised on hard disk. It allows the same functions as a video tape recorder or recording DVD. You can make pause, re-examine scenes, go ahead or retrogress.
  • Time shifting means the same thing that TIVO.
  • Pay-on-demand- TV. If you want to look a film on TV, you must pay some money to have it during a precise time (often 24 hours). Example the offers' Free : Canalplay
  • Streaming media. It's the possibility for TV or radio to propose theirs emissions in the same time that they produce them.
  • Podcasting. The podcasting (term of English origin) is a usually free means of diffusion of sound or video files on Internet. People or TV or radio can put theirs podcasting on web. After you can hear, see and download them on your computer or your I-Pod. For example, the podcasts of radio Nova.
Level Four

  • EULA, or and user licensing agreement. It is a contract between a person who installs a software on her computer and the owner of the software (who have the licence owner). Called licences of software owners, they limit the number of machines on which one can install the software or the number of users which can use the software.
Level Five

  • A long tail marketing strategy means a strategy who based on the theory of the greatest number. It describes certain business or economic models like Amazon. For example, to sell on web returns less expensive that in a store, also you can put much more products on line to be sold, and you are likely more to increase your sales (considering the number of Net surfers). Moreover when people make a research on a subject or a product, they have more chances to find your product because more possibilities or links of sites appear of the pages of research. The book Da Vinci Code really does not neeed of long trail marketing because it it gains an enormous success : everybody talks about this book and it was sold everywhere in the world.

Principles of killer app design

Reshaping the landscape

  • Outsource to the customer. That means that the site employs the customer to make himself a purchase. For example : the site Easyjet; you buy yourself your plane tickets.
  • Cannibalize yours markets. That means that the customer does not need more to go in a store or a market. For example : the cybermarket Hourra; you make your shopping on line without go in the market.
  • Treat each customer as a market segment one. The site give personalized recommendations. If people identificate, after the site knows automatically the persons. For example : the site La Redoute
  • Create communities of values. The site allowed to customers to give theirs comments, it creates also a specific space to his members. For example forums on many sites like Lefigaro

Building news connections

  • Replace rude interfaces with learning interfaces : You go on a site for buying some products. The first time, it's not simple but after each purchase, you do it easier. Examples : Hourra / la Redoute
  • Ensure continuity for the custumer, not yourself. The site of CAF (family allowances).
  • Give away as much informations as you can. For example, the site GrosBill who gives few explications and detailed charts.
  • Structure every transaction as a joint-venture. Two sites or many sites do links at the others for the profits of both of them. On the site for children tfou, you can play with BN (cakes for children) or do a painting with Garnier for the mother's day.

Redefining the interior

  • Treat yours aspects as liabilities (I have no idea)
  • Destroy your value chain. That means the disintermediation. The producer sells directly to the consumer. For example the site Kiabi ; now you can buy on line. If the shops disappears, the consumer can always buy.
  • Manage innovations as a portfolio of options. The idea is companies need'nt put eggs in the same basket. They must diversify their strategy. Companies are established thus on Internet. See the site Promod
  • Hire the children. Young people, who were born with technology and Internet, use new services without problem and often ask themselves questions. They can push their parents to change habits at home. For example a site special kids tfou or the site tamagotchi : children have their toys and can have many things for them going on the site.

Use of blogs

Olivier in his blog shows us many types of blogs (social, political, sketch, collaborative, photoblogs). So, I searched another type of blogs ... I found

graphic and comic strip blogs. Graphic designers, illustrators (of comic strip, books, newspapers) share their experiment by putting on line a part of their creations. So look at " boncap ".

medias blogs (or communities of newspapers readers). Some people have and read a prefer newspaper... they choose to have a blog to speak of current events on the newspaper website. For example, the " nouvelobs " (a french weekly newspaper).

Finally I found a english podcast

After I spent all my nigth for find a english podcast, I found it just at the moment where the sun wakes up.

So I present it with a real pleasure : KCRW's Theatre Talk

This morning, I listened the story of meeting between George Orwell and Ernest Hemingway. (I have the podcast on my USB key)

Find a pleasant blog

This morning, I found a blog called "podcast.hautefort.com". This blog explains "here we don't read, you look and hear".

If you have time, you can see a video film with a sing of Jacques Brel (and Noir Désir) who shows our president and government.

This blog explains how to hear and make a podcast.

I think it 's a good example that you can do on an blog.
